Obscene Dimensions

Pick and mix selection here, some ideas evolving round previous imagery. We can from here document what we intend to explore in the four sections. Will post tomorrow different themes links etc, references and plans.

Random day image

After a nice vivid dream of boats and objects, i felt this was a appropriate.

the oldschool

just came across this site. http://www.understandingduchamp.com/ really nicely done in a lot of detail and dedication exploring duchamps personal history. very good stuff there. a lot of pieces i didnt know. also mentions DALI's Rainy Taxi (a rain filled cab occupied by mannequins and thousands of living snails). turns out that piece was a huge influence on damien hirst.

so i went to look for some more info on this piece, it reminded me of the boxes we talked about, and found this:
http://www.artnet.com/magazineus/features/finch/finch7-12-07.aspA very interesting piece of writing putting dali, duchamp and hirst in context. check out the pic at the bottom of the page. laughed hard when i saw it.

Underlining Patterns

As we all love typography, i felt using type and skin could be a good idea to reveal secrets and representing growth. The concept of secret is something which relates to the artificiality of today's culture, for example surgery. I would call it anxiety pressured mapping

Am i Skinny enough ?

A few humanistic explorations into weight issues, especially with legs. Used type to create a more impacting and surreal perception on the way its a overiding issue in today's media. From this i really aim to create a exercise piece of work which motivates the idealism of weight. These images look into how we squeeze into things such as gaps, clothes and much more, again the relation to fashion and become something more real and 3d.

Changing of state

Illustrative works developed from a installation concept which involves rain, fashion and make up, became intrigued in how art can be combined with science. Therefore this concept takes a visual look on the way state of objects can change through reaction. Mainly the idea is based around revealing something new from the old, relates to other posts in the form of purity and beauty.Soon their will be mock up imagery of the fashion experiment. One keyword to take forward in this process is " PEALING".

Heroism

Varied pieces on this post, firstly the notion of our living bodies becoming visually timed, the idea of using the clock to interpret our time in life, more surreal approach to the idea of change, possibly can evolve as a moving image piece with the gradual change as the clock moves. Additionally other ideas looked at involved the use of contemporary heroism, in particular John Terry. Aimed to create a kinda mask for the figure, what came to mind was preservation and the way in which we purify these individuals. Two contrasting images, ones which are pure through whiteness and the others which are potent in colour. The reason for masking the characters. could lead to something more which could be revealed internally, through sculpture or even performance art. For example a experience in which people can rip away layers from the sculpture, a interactive process , this would enable people to reveal a side of non purity.

Attached Sentiments

Tactile experiments using string, wood sticks and cut outs, restraining the image building on top it, revealing the element of change by over working the body, or any thing attached to the artificiality of our culture. Making something new from the old.On the whole these works are inspired by scaffolding and building methods, hopefully we can develop this concept further with different objects.

Gagist disposition

Statue works using shaving cream, playing with the curves of the body, decorating the natural human in machine made material.More to Follow.

Las Fallas

relating to the freakshow/celebrity circus idea. this traditional spanish festival seems interesting. also like the emphasizes of process and destruction.

Freaking Garden ( Installation )

This is playing with the concept of artificality and naturalism. Sculpturally made through installation and narrative, intend to leave the hair items within nature to degrade and evolve which will reveal a different beauty. It can be labeled as immersive art, capturing a process of change. Inspired through the way things are pinned up against poles in the street and how nature grows on top of things such as brick.

Header tactile visuals

Playing visually with the 12 / 24 markings more crude , 3d approach , really feeling this approach to suit our style.Tactilism is the way!.
